Troubleshooting

Before contacting us, please review the following contents.

The Universal Probe is not recognized by the host PC.

1. Make sure the POWER LED of the Universal Probe units is ON.
2. If you are using an USB hub, connect the Universal Probe directly to host PC.
3. Connect the Universal Probe to another USB port of host PC.
4. Use the attached USB cable.
5. Confirm that another device works when the device is connected to the USB port of the host PC which does not recognize
   the Universal Probe.
6. Connect another Universal Probe to the same USB port.
7. Make sure that the following devices exist in "Human Interface Device" of device manager.
    - HID-compliant device (VID=0CEB、PID=000A)
    - USB Input Device (VID=0CEB、PID=000A)

   See the reference pictures.

8. Reboot the host PC and connect again.
9. Confirm that the attached USB cable works with another device.
10.Connect USB cable while pressing the button on the unit, hold it down more than ten seconds, and release when
   the POWER LED is ON. Then, rewrite the firmware by using Firmware Selector.

The POWER LED does not light.

1. When operating by battery, change the battery or charge if possible.
2. Write the firmware of "standard configuration" by Firmware Selector.
3. Make sure that the following devices exist in "Human Interface Device" of device manager.
    - HID-compliant device (VID=0CEB、PID=000A)
    - USB Input Device (VID=0CEB、PID=000A)

The unit makes chattering noise when shaken.

Turn off the power immediately, then please contact us.

The unit is unusually hot.

1. Measure the temperature and if it is 40 °C or more higher than room temperature, stop using the product.
   When the unit is within the warranty period, please contact us.
2. When you use multiple Universal Probes in piles, the temperature of the lapped portion becomes higher.
   When the unit is hot abnormally, use them without piling up.
   If the temperature is 40 °C or more higher than room temperature, stop using the product immediately and contact us.
3. Please disconnect the USB cable immediately and check the connection between the Universal Probe and Target board.
   When you get a wrong connection, it may become unusually hot by a short circuit of a signal line.

The unit does not work by pressing RUN button.

[CMSIS-DAP]
There is no assigned function. It is right result not to work.

[Logic Analyzer / Pattern Generator]
1. Confirm that the firmware is not for CMSIS-DAP.
2. Confirm that "Control by Run Button on Probe" is effective in each software.

[ARM Writer / SPI Writer]
1. Confirm that the firmware is not for CMSIS-DAP.
2. Confirm that LED of "STATUS" or "ERROR" lights after pressing the button.

Universal Probe is not recognized by the software.

[CMSIS-DAP]
Confirm that the firmware is "CMSIS-DAP configuration" by Firmware Selector.

[Other than CMSIS-DAP]
Confirm that the firmware is "standard configuration" by Firmware Selector.

I cannot select the Universal Probe because it is being used.

1. Disconnect Universal Probe from the host PC once and connect again.
2. Reboot the host PC.

Target cannot be detected.

[Common]
1. Confirm that the power of target is on.
2. Confirm that the cable is connected in right direction.
3. Confirm that the software is the latest version.
4. Confirm that the firmware is the latest version.

[CMSIS-DAP]
1. In case of MDK-ARM, you need to select CMSIS-DAP in both Debug tab and Utilities tab.
2. Select SWD and try again.

I cannot write to target.

[Common]
1. Use the attached cable.
2. Confirm that the power is supplied to Vtref terminal (I/O connector's No.1 pin).
3. Confirm that the software is the latest version.
4. Confirm that the firmware is the latest version.
5. Confirm that reset signal to target (SRST) is not in a low level.
6. Confirm that TRST signal to target is not in a low level.
7. Confirm again after lowering clock frequency.
8. Confirm the connection between the target and Universal Probe.
9. Increase the number of GND line between the target and probe.

[ARM Writer/SPI Writer]
1. When you use the Size-limited version, the writing size of user data is limited to 1KByte.
2. Confirm that the target is not write-protected.
3. Confirm that device and configuration are selected correctly.
4. when Universal Probe supplies the power, try to use power supply other than Universal Probe.

I cannot register my license.

1. Confirm that Serial No. which you applied for the license is correct.
2. Confirm that Software Code which you applied for the license is correct.
3. Could you try procedure below?
(1)First, Write the CMSIS-DAP firmware by Firmware Selector software.
(2)Then, Write the ARM Writer firmware or SPI Writer firmware by Firmware Selector software.
When not settling it by these operation, please connect a USB cable while pressing a button of the body.
And please try(2) after POWER LED lighting up.

I lost the enclosed document.

Software does not start.

1. Confirm that .NET Framework 4.5, Visual Studio 2013 Visual C++ Redistributable library is installed.
2. Reconfirm after closing all other application.
3. Confirm that it is operated by the supported OS.
4. Install the software again.
5. Confirm that software can start after it is given administrator rights.

The processing speed is slow.

1. Confirm that the host PC satisfies the required specifications.
2. Confirm that the port and hub of USB1.1 are not used.
3. Confirm that virus scan is not being executed.
4. It may take longer when referring to files through network.

It does not work as fast as the operating specification describes.

It may not work as fast as the specification describes because it depends on the load of circuit on the target.

The waveform of output signal is distorted. The amplitude is small.

It may occur that the waveform becomes distorted or the amplitude becomes small on the target with large load as the output impedance is high, but it is a feature.

After firmware is rewritten, it is not displayed in Firmware Selector.

Disconnect Universal Probe from the host PC and connect again. Press the refresh button in Firmware Selector.

I want to use the former firmware because the operation becomes unstable.

It is possible to rewrite the firmware by Firmware Selector.

The data acquired by Logic Analyzer is out of position.

It may become out of position by timing of sampling, but it is a feature.

The data acquired by Logic Analyzer is wrong.

1. Confirm that GND is connected correctly.
2. Increase the number of GND to be connected.
3. Change the threshold voltage level.

I cannot set the sequential trigger in Logic Analyzer.

You cannot use the channel in sequential trigger if the channel has been used in pattern edge trigger. Set the "×" in the pattern edge trigger condition, please try again.

I changed the pattern edge trigger condition in Logic Analyzer, but the condition is not reflected.

Pattern edge trigger condition is not reflected during measurement. Stop measuring it and please measure it once again.

I cannot analyze all packets in Logic Analyzer.

You can change the number of upper limit of analysis packets in environment setting dialog box. Please refer to the Software users manual of Logic Analyzer.

Output signal is out of position.

As the Hardware Users Manual describes, bit skew exists in output. It may become out of position further by connected target, but it is a feature.

The device connected to JTAG chain by Boundary-Scan Tool is not displayed.

Get and set BSDL file for the device which is not displayed. Please refer to the Software Users Manual for the method of setting.

I get an error when reading BSDL file, or it cannot be read correctly.

Confirm that the format of BSDL file is correct.

I added a BSDL file for undefined device, but 'consistency test' was failed.

Please try the following procedure.
[Project View] - [Board], right-click on the added device to open the context menu, and select [Device Properties].
The Device Properties dialog box will open. Please check the check box of the 'Ignore IDCODE comparison.'

When 5 or more units are connected, they do not recognize.

More than 4 units cannot be connected to one Root HUB. Connect to another USB port.

I cannot use another software product such as Logic Analyzer after the Eclipse software is used.

Power off the Universal Probe and power on it.
